The Sun, the Sweat, and the Pimples: A Guide to Summer Acne Management
  • Why Does Acne Increase In The Summer?
  • What Should I Use for My Acne?

Summer time in India means hotter temps, higher humidity, and for most people, lots of sweating.

This can unfortunately be the perfect combination to cause acne

The reasons for the increased Break-Outs especially in the summer are

  • Sweat and excess oil production
  • Increased exposure to sunlight
  • Heavy Cosmetics
  • Tight-fitting clothing

#Sweat and excess oil production

Due to Increased heat and humidity, sweat & sebum can clog pores and lead to breakouts.

5% Niacinamide serum can help to maintain a healthy skin barrier along with regulating oil production, reducing redness & irritation.

#Increased exposure to sunlight

Sunlight can cause skin inflammation, leading to acne flare-ups.
Choose a non-comedogenic sunscreen.

#Heavy Cosmetics

Using heavy makeup can clog pores and cause breakouts.

DOUBLE CLEANSING every day with a makeup remover and soothing face wash is necessary.

Swap out greasy moisturisers for a lightweight like White Lotus Moisturiser - perfect for wearing under sunscreen.

Eliminate the possibility of Fungal Acne too

During Summer there is an overgrowth of yeast(dandruff) within the hair follicles due to sweat and heat.

When there is yeast in the sebaceous glands, your hair follicles become inflamed, causing fungal acne.

Fungal acne looks exactly like regular acne. So before you choose a product to treat your acne make sure the type of acne you have.

BHA/Salicylic acid serum works on both fungal acne and regular acne.
